Hair Transplants

Scar Free Strip Technique

The Strip Harvesting technique involves removing a strip of hair normally from the back of the head. This strip is then divided into hair follicular units to be transplanted and are kept as one group. By this way the follicular units (which consist of 1-4hairs) are kept intact in their genetic form and prevent the individual hair follicles from being damaged.

These follicular units are then dissected with great care under microscopes equipped with fibre optics so as to avoid the application of heat to the follicles. These hair units are preserved in a special solution at the right temperature until Dr Choudhuri and Dr Jabbar prepares the recipient sites (implantation site) on the patient. They are then placed with great care in to the bald or thinning areas of the scalp.

There are several key elements necessary to achieve a natural and excellent result. The most important of these key elements are the following:

  • Proper donor extraction and closing (taking the strip from the back of the head using the latest tricophytic closure technique as described below)
  • Proper follicular unit dissection
  • Proper graft hydration and storage
  • Recipient site creation using proper angulation, direction and arrangement
  • Natural hairline design
  • Careful placement of grafts with the proper technique so as to avoid their damage
  • Proper post-surgery care

Trichophytic Closure

Modern day hair transplants have moved on a great deal compared to the olden day doll hair appearance and visible scar. We are now using a revolutionary method called the Tricophytic closure technique which allows the absolute minimum appearance of any scar and all our patients are left with a very light pink line at the back of the head which is completely hidden under hair. It is barely noticeable even with a shaved head. This is done by cutting off the top of one wound edge and suturing it so that the hair from that edge grows through the scar. Either wound edge can be trimmed in the technique, but removing part of the upper edge is most common.
